On to the Lock...

Here we go to the Harbor Lock on our way to the Lake...

A glimpse at Navy Pier.

Julie is not fond of boating!  As you can see, she is hanging on to help keep the boat over to the side of the Lock while the water rises and the Lock opens to allow us out...

The Chicago Harbor Lock is the device that keeps the Chicago River's water level below that of Lake Michigan, helping the river continue its unnatural flow.  At the same time, it allows vessels to make the transition from the higher Lake Michigan water into the lower water of the Chicago River and vice versa.

Rob waits.

Julie nervously waits...

This is her "first aid" kit that two of her friends made up for her, fully packed with things to relax her while she is boating.

Soon it's time to move on...

...onto the Lake.  You can see the difference in the movement of the water.  Oh Julie!

Our last look at Navy Pier.

Actually, what she worries about most is the weather.  It can change so quickly.  But it promised to be a beautiful day...
